Board of Directors
The Redwood Art Association is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for management of the affairs of the organization, coordinating activities and making decisions about how the organization can best serve the membership and the community. It is a working board and members donate their time, skills and energy to present successful events and worthwhile activities.

The Board Members for 2017 are:
Martha Haynes, President
After 30 plus years as an educator, now explores color through sewing quilts. Since the world presents all sorts of ideas for quilts, her most useful tool, after the sewing machine, is a camera.
David Boston, Vice President
A photographer who has worked as a welder, nurse and grounds keeper at the Carson Hunting Lodge. Served on the RAA Board in the late 1980’s including President. Has work in public & private collections.
Colleen Hole, Secretary
A lifelong artist, California native and retired print advertising professional. Current North Coast Journal Partner and Board Member.
Roy Grieshaber, Treasurer
Art lover from Eureka with forty years experience as a marketing professional. He has a special interest in helping the association manifest its long-term goals.
Linda Wise, Past President
General Manager at Recology Humboldt County. A sculptor and oil painter with a B.S. and an M.S. in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University.
Retired from Strictly for the Birds in 2004, a business she founded. In addition to birds & nature, she loves being artistically creative and singing. She has been RAA newsletter editor and gift shop coordinator.
Local artist and student. BFA from the East Coast, secondary art education teaching credential from HSU, and pursuing a MFA from Academy of Art San Francisco online. Specializes in pet portrait commissions.
Received his MFA in sculpture from University of Notre Dame, is an associate faculty member at CR and a sculpture technician at HSU. Worked for an art residency program ACRE, and exhibited his art widely.
Retired private investigator living in the hills of southern Humboldt with wife Kate for 41 years. Became interested in art as a teenager and currently enjoys photography, painting with acrylics and woodworking.
Has an Applied Math Degree with a career as a hydrographic survey engineer updating nautical charts. Discovered his love for pastels after retirement. Enjoys landscape, still life and portraiture painting.
Holds a MA in Studio Art and Photography and a MFA in the History and Practice of Photography, has taught photography at the university level, and her photographs have been exhibited internationally.
Photographer since age ten. Currently a counselor to small businesses. Worked with experimental literary foundation as writer and editor. Written novels, screenplays, newspaper columns and educational videos.
A McKinleyville resident with a degree in Art, Teacher Preparation from HSU. He is an art instructor for Eureka Senior High School and teaches drawing, painting, jewelry beading & metals, sculpture & pottery.
An ever-evolving digital artist. Leads two art groups, Eureka Photoshop User Group & Humboldt Digital Artists. Software engineer and technical consultant to corporate customers in Silicon Valley for 30 years.
Julia Bednar, Director Emeritus
A Eureka artist whose paintings reflect the natural world. Retired from a career in insurance and child welfare organizations. Member of the Humboldt Arts Council Board and the Fortuna Arts Council.
Robert Haynes, Director Emeritus
Wood sculptor and photographer from Arcata, retired art professor after 39 years of teaching plus many years experience in arts administration and advocacy at the local, county and state level.
